A little while ago some of the students in our class heard about the fires going on up around Fort McMurray in Alberta. We learned that a lot of people had lost their homes and a lot of other important things that we sometimes take for granted. We talked about this and then decided as a class that we'd like to help.

Seeing an opportunity to engage in some REAL WORLD project based learning, our teacher Mr. C came up with a HUGE assignment for Health and Career that would:
- challenge us to set meaningful personal goals
- help us to gain presentation and project management skills
- develop our awareness and responsibility as global citizens
- teach us that even though we are kids, we have the ability to make a difference in the world and the lives of other people (Mr. C thinks it's important for kids to learn that with a little patience, a plan and a positive attitude, kids can do some pretty amazing things)
Mr. C calls this assignment 'The Eraser Project'
How it works:
- Our job as a class is to start with one plain old 10 cent rubber eraser, and then to work together to trade that eraser for things that are bigger and better, with each trade being better than the the last thing that we traded for.
- On the last day of school (June 30th), we will take whatever we have finally traded for and either donate it to a family in Fort McMurray that could use some help, or sell the item we traded for and give the money raised to the Canadian Red Cross to help them with their efforts to make things better for people in Fort McMurray.
- If you would like to trade, please check out what we're trading right now and then make us an offer!
- We will discuss your offer as a class, and if it seems bigger and better we will ask our teacher Mr. C to contact you and help us make the trade!
- We are looking to trade for things that are fun, maybe cool or interesting and/or useful. It might be for something that you have that you no longer want, or an interesting or useful service that you can offer! You could make us a trade for ALMOST ANYTHING!
- Also, please tell us your story about what you'd like to trade with us!
Thank you!
